Date: 20 – 22 November 2023
Place: Runde
Theme: Food from the sea
This year, the annual meeting of the Norwegian Association of Marine Scientists (Havforskermøtet) will take place on Monday 20th - Wednesday 22nd November on Runde island. The main theme is Food from the Sea.
On the outer west coast of the Sunnmøre region you find the island of Runde, home to the southernmost bird cliff of Norway. Runde is a place off the beaten track, where we can disconnect from the outside world and just be present together.
The meeting is held at the visitors’ centre Opplev Runde. Accommodation is available in comfortable flats at the centre, and at neighbouring Christineborg Gjestehus. We also have a deal with Thon Hotel in nearby Fosnavåg, to make sure there is room for all participants.
Runde is a two-hour journey outside Ålesund. You can travel via Ålesund airport (well connected via bus and boat) or fly to Ørsta/Hovden and continue by car or minibus (50 minutes).
On Monday evening we start with the annual meeting and and popular science entertainment before dinner. On Tuesday and Wednesday we continue with the scientific programme. See the full programme of the meeting here.
